Possible herpes transmission. Please help.

Hello all... After googling my life away and living in total hell, I have successfully convinced myself that I have herpes. I am a 20 year old female. On December 15th I had protected vaginal sex for about 5 minutes (if duration matters) and unprotected oral.  I've been really anxious about being infected. About 5 days after the intercourse I had a mild feverish feeling, but no outbreak. I tested negative at 3 weeks post exposure, but I know this is far too soon for antibodies to be detected.

At 27 days post exposure, I felt a sting while I took a shower. I instantly looked in the mirror and failed to see any visible sores or cuts. Initially I thought it was irritation from my panty liner, as my period ended the day before and I failed to change it throughout the day. I started using diaper rash cream and felt some relief. The irritation has been present for about 4 days and I'm starting to see a discharge.. I'll be seeing my gyno as soon as I can.

Please please.. Any advice.. Input.. Would be appreciated. Do you think I have herpes or some sort of irritation/ yeast infection?

Thank you.

Yep my worry is concerning HSV2. Before having sex with my partner, I requested that he get tested. While he said he did and everything is fine, I highly doubt be requested to get tested for HSV1 or even HSV2, so his reliability is questionable. I'm just waiting on this uncertainty to end so I can continue living my life.. It really does suck feeling so miserable though.

Thanks again for your response.

If you have a prior HSV1 infection, as the majority of people do from their youth, then that has a couple of implications.

The first is that you cannot practically now obtain a genital HSV1 infection. The chances are incredibly low and would probably require a significant impairment to your immune system for this to occur. Thus the unprotected oral sex is no practical risk of further HSV1 infection.

HSV2 is hence the main risk, although protected sex with a male provide incredibly good protection in most circumstances for a female and reduces the already low odds to 1 in many thousands per episode. This all assumes that this partner even had HSV2.

I feel you im in the same boat, i actually had Unprotected sex on the 19th and a few days following i had flu like symptoms along with genital symptoms as well. I went to the dr yesterday and she said it isnt herpes bt i took a blood test today anyways. From wut i have read is that its extremely rare to autinoculate yourself if u have that type of herpes already. You said you failed to see any sores even after the fever and since you already have hsv1 u should probably know hsv doesnt typically work that way. Maybe the fever was a sign of a bacterial or yeast infection that youre having and thus the discharge and irritation. I know no words but the test results can make you relax. Im really scared too, but i think we have to remind ourselves that our mind along with all its shame and guilt is partially and almost completey to blame for our assumptions. Easier said than done, i know, bt hey its not like worrying is going to do any good is it. I think you should try to see what that persons status is before u go off the deep end. Remember, this wont kill you, but paranoia can destroy ya. Best of luck. Im hoping all is good on both our ends.

Do you have an oral HSV1 cold sore infection?

99% of the time, a fever is just that, a fever.

Most people will have an outbreak at the time of infection. A sting a month later is unlikely to be any indicator.

A 12 week test is required to be conclusive but I see no reason to suspect a HSV infection genitally.
