Should I get retested in a few months?

Hello everyone,
So here's my problem, I had sex about 2 weeks ago. One day after I had sex I noticed a tear in my vaginal region then another tear. 2 altogether. There were no bumps, blisters, sores etc.. I didn't feel any pain it didn't itch down there or anything and i didnt have any symptoms of feeling sick. I still thought I'd get tested to be on the safe side, so a week after I went to the doctor. My lesion was already just about cleared up. There was no crusty overlay or anytging. when i llooked at pictures the only thing that resembled my issue was a yeast infection. I go to the doctor and she said that doesn't look like herpes at all, I'm pretty positive it's a yeast infection. She did the test and said if it comes back positive for yeast then it's not herpes. It came back positive as a yeast infection. She still took a culture and sent it in anyway. Then a few days after my appointment, the herpes culture came back positive for the herpes simplex 2. Is it possible my culture was wrong since I didn't get tested until my lesion was just about gone? I don't know if false positives are likely.

Thanks for all the help!

at this point get your partner tested to know their status.

also if you haven't read the free herpes handbook that we recommend in our read before posting post on the forum, be sure to do so when you have the time.

Hey grace, I have never been tested for herpes before. I've never had any lesions, bumps or anything to where I'd test for herpes. That yeast infection lesion was my first ever. I haven't had a blood test for the herpes. Just the culture from the yeast infection. They didn't prescribe me pills either, just said when or if I get symptoms to come in so I can get rid of the outbreak

Cultures are highly, highly reliable. Usually, when people wait more than a few days to get a lesion cultured, they don't get positive results; they get negative results. False positives in regards to cultures are extremely, extremely unlikely. Now you know what you have, and it's better to be informed than anything with this.

One of the leading herpes experts, Terri Warren, who is also an expert here on MedHelp, wrote the "Herpes Handbook". Please read this; it'll give you answers to many questions you probably have. http://www.westoverheights.com/handbook.htm

usually it's false negatives that are the issue, not false positives.

do you have a regular partner?
