NEGATIVE BIOKIT!!!! Wooooo Hooooo!!

Hi, I just made my nearly 600 mile round trip to get the BioKit testing done.. It's NEGATIVE!!!  Wooooo Hooooo!  I've never been so happy!  I just cried my eyes out at the good news.. My previous tests were 3.89 and 2.27 one week later... I'm assuming I'm negative with the low numbers along with a NEGATIVE BioKit..

hey, I havent had a blood test yet.  I had a weird red spot on my penis,  all the doctors said it looked nothing like herpes.....  it also went away in 3 days.   all I can do is wait 2 more months to get a blood test.  as of right now im trusting what the doctors said. I just need to make sure.....

I would get the Biokit or WB if you believe that you test results may be inaccurate. As you can see above I had a journey myself with figuring things out.

The smae exact thing happened to me. I tested low positive (1.81) using Herpeselect then had a BioKit and it came back negative. I was tested for the Biokit 3 mo after last sexual contact.

It's infuriating that people are out there who think that they have this and possibly don't if they tested in the low positive range.

Hey there! Congrats... Your story sounds so familiar to mine. It is just good to know. My biokit came back negative after two positive Igg tests as you can see above. I went on to get the WB. I found out that I am positive HSV 1 and negative HSV 2. What a long journey of lack of knowlegde from what we call "Doctors". All we can do is continue to encourage others to follow up like we did. I could have easily went on the rest of my life thinking that I was HSV 2 positive.

I felt obliged to post here after my ordeal. I was recently diagnosed with neg hsv-1 and an hsv-2 range of 2.1 through tstd.org   Of course, I was devastated and confused because I have no symptoms except for an irritation that swabbed as negative for herpes 10 years ago. I turned to the internet for info and solace. I came across this website and couldn't get enough. As stated in many many posts before-it said if your range is between 1.1-3.5 go get a 2nd test (biokit or WB). Now many posts said especially if you came back hsv-1 positive, which I did not but I held out hope and drove 2 1/2 hrs to get my biokit test done yesterday and it came out NEGATIVE!!!!!

So for those of you who are distraught and sick to your stomach and confused over your low-positive blood test-please, please go get confirmation. I really hate that so many people are out there thinking they have it and have been misinformed and will continue their whole lives never knowing the truth. I couldn't eat or sleep and in the end, it was all for nothing.

Your peace of mind is worth every bit of extra work or money to get that 2nd test. Thank you to all who have posted here who, without even knowing, helped me through one of the most stressful and depressing times of my life.  I wish you all joy and happiness in your life as I have found mine again.  :)

Odds are your 2 +'s are not true positives. A negative biokit makes that even more likely to boot.  If you really need the peace of mind, get a herpes WB.

I'd stop valtrex if you are still taking it.

Make sure you are getting any future testing done at least 4 months post your last sexual encounter too.

Yeah that is what I thought and went ahead with the test just to confirm. I am not sure that I will ever get this figured out. Thanks for your response. I wish that I could be excited but that is not the case. It just makes me more sad regarding the lack of knowledge and different information one gets regarding HSV.

She checks in just about every day (sometimes several times a day). She'll no doubt reply... But yes, I am almost certain that the Biokit and Western Blot are the tests to give a final say for the low positive IgG test result cases (under 3.5, about 1.0). You'll read over and over here that that is the case.

Yeah I don't know what to think or do. It is frustrating for things to be so clear. It is beyond having HSV at this point. I just hate the way that I am being told different things constantly. How do I get Grace's expertise?

I believe she is very misinformed. I'll defer to grace's expertise here...

Well I went this morning to get the Biokit test and it came back negative. I did not meet with the Doctor until the end of the 2 hr appointment. After she told me that my results were negative I shared my two recent positive tests. At this time she told me that I should trust the two positive tests over the Biokit test. What the hell? So I just traveled out of town and spent $300 for a negative test that means absoluetly nothing.

Definitely get the test! Again, your results were a LOW positive. The Biokit will either confirm or deny, and finally tell you what you need to know.

Thanks so much for your response. I have been doing pretty good with accepting that I have HSV 2 considering the tests. The difficult part was waiting on my ex and current partner to get tested. Both came back negative. I am also frustrated with the Doctors that I have seen and talked to. They all give me different information and advice. None of them are aware of the Biokit tests. It drives me crazy. I am going to get the test done tomorrow but was not sure if it was worth it due to having two positive tests.

HSV1 or HSV2?

Yes, get the Biokit. Your results are a low positive and need confirmatory testing with the Biokit or Western Blot.

Lot's of things can go on down yonder - try not to be paranoid about it. Not everything is herpes, even if you have herpes (I have GH and never give it a thought now) You don't even know for sure yet that you have it... wait for your test.

Hey there! Congrats on your test results. I am scheduled to get a Biokit HSV 2 Rapidtest tomorrow. I am still not sure if I should go to the appointment. My recent IgG tests were as follows:

June 5- 1.59
June 26- 1.60

I had not had any known OB prior to getting diagnosed and starting Valtrax. Everything I feel and see now I question if it is an OB. Any advice would help. Thanks so much.
