Need futher Explanation

I been with my wife sexually active since February 2008, in December 2008 she got tested for std's an all the results came back negative for herpes type 2.  I noticed about three days ago a red skin teared, i went to my dr an had a skin culture done and a blood test, I havent received the results for the culture yet, but the blood results are back and show im positive, my count is 3.3 for type 2. According to my Dr. this count shows I been infected for about 4 years plus.

my questions is how come my wife tested negative and I tested positive now?  can you please let me know futher in details, im devastated an seeking all posible answers to this enigma

Thank you for your propmt response.  

I did see the test results for my wife that she had done December last year it was the same laboratory that did mine, she had another one done today we are pending the results.

My culture test came back 24 hour non active, im still pending the 72 hour face of the culture results.  you mentioned something about anchored poll forum, were can I find that ?

you absolutely can not tell how long you've been infected with herpes from a blood test!

Your hsv2 igg is a low positive. If your lesion culture is negative, you need to confirm your hsv2 status with additional confirmatory testing.    see the anchored poll on this forum for additional info.

did your wife get a copy of her blood test results for herpes to know that indeed she was properly tested and was negative?
