oral and genital HSV 1 question

i have genital HSV 1 and my boyfriend has oral HSV 1 - we did not give it to each other. can i start to get oral cold sores from him? and can he start to get genital sores from me? or is it that once the virus has chosen its "home" it will remain there. i have read that that is the case, but wanted to ask here as well.

thanks so much!!

it's a non-issue in this relationship for the most part.  if you have anything going on genitally, avoid sex to err on the side of caution , otherwise not an issue for either of you.

if you didn't already contract hsv1 orally originally, not likely you'd contract it now since you have it genitally. it gives you significant protection against contracting it on other body parts.
