I would until hubby gets his results back and I've seen your results and then I can help you make the how to treat decision if you want help with it :)
Hang in there - it really will get better I promise!

Hi Grace,
my husband just went to get tested he hasn't gotten the results yet. my doc promised to send the info i haven't gotten it yet. should i then ask for more permanent medication? because i'm going to go crazy with this thing.
thanks again
The average number of ob's is 4-6/year.
The virus does not become immune to valtrex. It's not an antibiotic.
Have you called to get the actual numeric results yet to post here?
Has hubby been tested yet?

Hi Grace,
i have had three outbreaks (i am now realizing thats what they were )in the space of six months, it is frustrating, upsetting and i don't think i'm dealing with the whole thing as well as i should. Anyway, the question is, are this many outbreaks normal? my doctor has given me prescriptions for three day doses of valtrax is that enough? (logic being he doesn't want the virus to become immune).
thanks in advance for your usual help.
Thanks Grace, will try and get those to you as soon as possible.
If you can call and get the results of the blood test to post here - ie hsv1 igg 4.5 and hsv2 igg 8.3 or whatever they are is all you need to post for me to look at. That way I can be sure you were properly tested and don't need additional testing done too.
Hubby getting a blood test too will help you both decide what precautions to take together, if any, depending on his results. I can help you with those too once he gets them.
Hang in there - it's really not as bad as it seems at the moment I promise :)

I thought i was happily married until this came straight out of left field..my doctor has requested that my husband be tested immediately..i was diagnosed when i had what i now realize was an outbreak and thought it was just a really bad yeast infection, i was asked to do a blood test when i got this news..
No he will not. genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease. If you aren't having sex with someone, they aren't at risk. As always , wash your hands after using the toilet or touching yourself intimately, things you already did before this.
The herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is a terrific and free resource to start your reading at. If you don't mind spending money, terri warren's book - the good news about the bad news - is also very worthwhile.
do you have a partner? Have they been tested yet? How were you diagnosed?
