New partner is having symptoms after unprotected sex, but I only have HSV-1?

My new guy has been having headaches, tingling and aches in his joints and privates, fever, nausea, flu-like feeling, and no energy since we had our first (only) sexual encounter. I had tests and only had a positive HSV-1 IGG result that was 54.70. I have never had any symptoms or outbreaks and didn't know I had HSV-1. I hadn't had sex for 2+ years. He has negative HSV-1 & HSV-2 prior results. Could I have given him HSV-1, and could that have caused symptoms? Thank you for any insight and information!

I doubt he has anything herpes related. The "flu-like" symptoms sound just like that... the flu. It is flu season. Without obvious blisters, lesions and sores, it is not herpes  causing his symptoms.
