OB duration and pain relieve advice

2nd day for my daughter since we found out she's HSV2 positive and 1 week with symptoms. Any advice on what she can do to relieve the pain, she's having a hard time walking and she said it hurts so bad. Someone told me to give her L-Lysine. She has 3 more days on valtrex and the doctor said to wait to see if she has another outbreak. Any advice on pain relief, duration anything would be helpful. I want to help her as much as I can. Thank you in advance

Not much you can do besides the valtrex. Topical creams and such can make hsv worse.  L-Lysine won't do anything for her. If the sores are still tgere get her in and get them swabbed today!!! Like we discussed i don't believe she has hsv2. I believe she has hsv1. The tests were talen to early to get a proper diagnosis. Do it today

Spoke with the doctor, GP, and he said he's only swabbed for that once before and isn't very educated in that area. So we will have to be referred to gynecologist he said. So by the time we get an appointment they may be completely gone. He has her on valtrex, 3 times a day but only have 2 days left. He also told her to use destine or Vaseline down there. I'm trying to do everything I can to help her but we aren't getting anywhere. You seem very educated in this and helpful. Another questions I have is that her gums are swollen and when she eats, it hurts and burns her chest. Is that normal or related to HSV? The doctor seems clueless
It isn't typical of hsv. That being said it is possible to get it in both locations at the same time. I am disregarding her pos hsv2 test for now as I believe there is no way she has hsv2. If her boyfriend was getting a cold sore then it is possible to get hsv1 from oral and kissing. Most people who have hsv1 in both locations get it at the same time. I'm not saying that's what is going on, just a posibility.
Yeah, your Dr is clueless about hsv. If I were in your shoes I would take my daughter to a walk in urgent care facility and have the area swabbed. The timing may not be thr best now that she's on antivirals but it is still worth a try. You need to figure out what is going on!! That is priority one.
Oh and desitin or vaseline is fine.
I did decide to give the L-lysine, vitamin C and zinc a try. It's been 2 days and what a difference. She's able to walk, go to work and not in as much pain. She even has a date night with her boyfriend tonight. Not sure if It's the down side of the outbreak or it actually helped her. She still has her moments and breaks down in tears. Haven't heard from the doctor yet about the result on the 2nd test he did, he said it may take several days (I think he said it's a PCR blood test that works with her DNA)
So my daughters first blood test came back within 24 hrs positive and after 8 days her PCR blood test came back negative. Now we've had 2 different results and don't know which one to go by.
