Oral HSV2

Is there any place where I can get comprehensive information on oral hsv2?  I had unprotected oral sex 3 days ago.  I have developed 2 canker sores on the front bottom lip (inside the mouth).  I've infrequently  had canker sores before, but never anything like this.  I previously tested negative for both HSV1 and HSV2 before this incident.   Also, any thoughts on symptoms of developing the two canker sores?

he gave you the cold sore dose of valtrex.

at this point just wait and see what your lesion culture result is. odds are it'll be negative for herpes.

Grace - thanks for your time.

Yes, I have had two tests done, one for each of the last two years and both negative for HSV1 and HSV2.

It looks like I now have a small pimple blister on my buttocks, but no other signs below the belt.

Went to the doctor yesterday - he took a swab and started me on Valtrex.  He only gave me 4 pills.  Take 2 every 12 hours.  I thought the dosage was light.  He only looked at my lips, didn't examine my lower body or suggest blood tests. Does that sound right?

My concern is finding a credible doctor.  Asking a friend for a referral doesn't work with this kind of thing.

it'll reveal hsv2 but won't tell you where you have it. have you ever had a herpes test done before ?

Thanks Grace!

I have an appt today.  If it comes back negative, should I still blood test in a couple of months.  Will the igg blood test reveal oral HSV2?  I assume it will?

best thing to do is to be seen today and get a lesion culture done on these. it's the only way to accurately diagnose hsv2 orally.
