tttttttttthank youuuu! i got med today for pink eye and the dr said if that doesnt help by monday he wants to check me out himself
To comment you about your eye infection that you had posted in another post, does it hurt to even open your eyes with gunk or whatever forming to where you have to pry your eyes open? If not, then more than likely it is NOT herpes in your eye. I went to two eye dr's three times and each time they looked at my eyes telling me there was no sign of herpes. But, I did have flaking forming on my eye lids. This was caused by a bacteria infection which he told me happens this time of year in a lot of people. Also, I had burning sensations whenever my eyes got wet which led me to go to the eye dr in the first place. She just told me I had dry spots in the eyes which caused the burning (from contacts or from my nails when I took out the contacts).
If it is bothering you enough, though, go to the eye doc to get checked out since no one here can properly diagnose you...but we can try to calm you down. =P
What needs to happen is for you to have a proper exam and testing of your current symptoms. Did she test for yeast or bacterial infection?? Herpes does not cause symptoms that you describe for a year. A herpes blood test only tells you your herpes status, not what's necessarily causing your symptoms. But yes, get the proper testing - your provider wasted your time and money. Get an "IgG type specific blood test".
You are correct and IgM is worthless. The test you should had done is the IgG test type specfic. That is the one that if positive you need to start taking precautions. If you have had the symptoms for a year (with no breaks) then chances are its not herpes. Herpes doesn't last that long without a break.
When was your last sexual encounter that put you at risk?
If the time frame was 12+ weeks ago you can get the test done now. Make sure your provider does the right test. www.ashastd.org has a great guide that you can have your provider order to help them with this testing and getting more information.
