Oral herpes

As far back as my early teen years I'd get an occasional cold sore on my lip. No worries I'd just get the cream and it would go away. Now I'm 40 and two weeks ago had lower back surgery. I had a small fever blister but forgot about it. Two weeks go by and I noticed all these ulcers in my mouth along my cheek and back of the throat. I panicked and went to see the doc. He said it was the type 2 herpes but only gave me 2 valtrex pills at 1gm each. What's going on? Was this always inside me since I'd get fever blisters? I'm scared and frustrated and I'm scared I could passed this on to my gf. We were intimate the night before surgery. She's had blood work and was checked by a gyno and was clean and clear. Did I get this from her?? I'm just devestated!!

Id listen to Grace on this. I'm negative for both herpes viruses, but also had tons of recurrent ulcers in my mouth, inside cheeks, on gums, under tongue and side of tongue, and I swore it was herpes.

My blood test has been negative through 22 weeks and the ulcers were swabbed negative for herpes. Doctor stated they were canker sores caused by stress or a virus. Herpes typically does not present itself like that.

If it persists, Id have a swab done on one of ulcers to eliminate any possibility of you believing it's herpes. It's what I did.

no it wasn't type 2 herpes inside your mouth like that!!!

your newest symptoms don't sound herpes simplex related at all.   most likely a common virus that just has to run its course.

the dose for cold sores for valtrex is just a twice a day one day dose but it's not going to work for non-herpes related issues.

have you and your gf had full herpes testing at all to know who has what?
