Herpes? (pic)

Hello, I am concerned about some red bumps that have shown up on my and my girlfriend's groin areas.

They seem to come and go, but there have been at least a few of them visible for the past couple months. They are not painful or itchy. I thought it was acne at first but now I am convinced it's something else.

We do have unprotected sex, but we have been in a monogamous relationship for the past 1.5 years. She is the only person I have ever had sex with, she had one other partner before me. However, this just started showing up recently, Not when we first started having sex. My girlfriend is showing very similar symptoms to what shows in my pic above. They started to show first on me, then soon after on her.

Can this be something that could have been started if she gave me oral sex while having a canker sore or something like that in her mouth? Are there other ways to catch this (if it is in fact a STD) other than sexual contact?

Yes, I know... go see our doctors. We will, but of course it's embarrassing so I just am wondering if there is much to worry about here. If it is in fact Herpes as I I understand there is no cure anyway, it stays in you forever.

we don't look at pictures here. why not is explained in our read before posting post on the forum.

would herpes linger like this on you both? no it would not.

you both should be seen and get a proper exam done to know what is going on. these could be many things but warts and molluscum are 2 that linger as well as you could be sharing a skin infection from shaving that is causing your symptoms too.

since herpes is on your mind, have you both sought out type specific herpes igg blood testing to see who has what in your relationship?

Any input anyone? I'd like to think it was because I shaved this area a while back and have some infected follicles, but I doubt it, it looks pretty nasty.
