I was told I was exposed to HSV-2 this past July. Doctor didn't really have any answers after doing research I see that's a nice way to say you have it. Im in the military and they use a test called MULTIPLEX FLOW IMMONASSAY and my results just say high (no numerical value). I do self checks even before the news and have never seen any bumps or blisters or anything to draw concern. My partner of almost a year (almost always unprotected) has tested negative (test was taken 3 months after last sexual interaction due to deployment). I asked to be retested and the doctor told me that would be pointless because of the IGG test being positive. Then he compared it to my past experience with chickenpox and how I would test positive for that since I had that as a child... and stated exposed does not necessarily mean that I have it. My question is, should I still try to get retested with a different test that can provide me index values or does that not matter?
