Confused/Scared about Herpes

Hello, i saw a sex worker a little more than 5 weeks ago, in the time from then to now i have out myself throughthe ringer mentally thinking that i may have caught herpes. Truth be told, i dont really understand how that works. I visited my doc shortly after because i had irritation on my foreskin (she performed unprotected oral on me, protected intercourse, and some kissing, nothing too heavy), the doctor swabbed and it cane back negative for herpes. I read there are timetables for tesfing for this, I'm approaching what is suopisedly the 96% accuracy timeline...anyway, with this said, i cureently feel pain on my lower right lip, nothing visual, been going for 2 days now, ive had everhthing ranging from itching anf burning lips to irritation in ny genitals. Im a mental wreck, and i must admit that reading the symptoms may have been a mistake. What would be the possibikity i could be exoeriencing "prodrome" before something occurs? Ive been stressed and nothing has appeared so far. Please help. Thank you for reading. Also, my main concern is i have started dating the girl of my dreams....im avoiding her at all costs because i dont want to kiss her if something is going on...something about shedding that can be passed on.

The itching and burning sounds like a prodrome. I had pain for weeks before a sore showed up, during my first outbreak. I don't think there is a set set of rules on this. They can look different on different people and act different on different people. I had read the swab test was accurate if done early on. You can have a PCR bloodtest to check for antibodies to see if you have HSV-1 and/or HSV-2. You can get both at either location- lips/mouth/nose area or genitals.

Had that done about 3 weeks ago, had similar irritation and was swabbed, negative.

Testing by blood should be done 12 weeks from exposure. One more tid bit, hsv primary outbreaks most always happen 3-10 days after exposure. In rare cases it's been documented out to 20 days. I think it's pretty clear your lingeting symptoms are not herpes or any std for that matter

Wow, thank you for that. That is definitely great informatiom to have. Yeah, my anxiety seems to trigger some of these "symptoms", and at times there is answer to most of them. So, definutely wait on the blood testing? Either way, thank you for the information, i hope this helps ease my mind. Thank you so much.
My logical side tells me i dont have angthing, the girl had nothing showing and was very well kept and seemed very clean. Not sure why i even went obline and looked up these syntpoms. Part of me feels ive done this to myself mentally and physically im well. Thanks again.
You're welcome. I agree with you on the symptoms and anxiety. I've been at this awhile and i will tell you most csw don't have std's and this is far safer than the random bar hookup. We have all heard of famous people going down when a maddem leaks the client list. How many have you heard go down because they brought something home to the wife?
I have never had anyone on this forum contract hsv from a one time csw exposure. More food for thought.
Exactly, i agree with you. I think random hook ups are far more risky. thanks again, this has been a huge help.
Hi, so i visited my PCP due to irritation on my foreskin and he suggested we test for HSV1, and 2, to ease my mind. They came back negative and didn't seem to worry much about the irrirated foeskin, its 7 weeks since i saw the csw,i assume at this point i can be worry free? Thanks so much for the comments as always.
Also, i think ive anniyed my doc because he seems like I'm pestering him with this, i even asked him if it was ik to be in the sun cause i read outbreaks can occur due to this, it was a simple question to which he just said, let it go, time to get over it.

You wouldn't experience any prodrome symptoms before a primary outbreak. You would either have lesions or be asymptomatic. Meaning no symptoms at all. This would be unlikely for hsv1.
Ok to your risks. Your protected intercourse was no real risk at all. It's not zero but pretty darn close. Put it this way. If she had genital hsv2 and you had unprotected intercourse the odds are roughly 1 in a 1000. Your protected intercourse effectively down to near zero for hsv and zero for bacterial std's. Hiv is no risk from any of the sex acts.
Oral sex is much safer than vaginal or anal intercourse. The only small pissibilities are hsv1, NGU or gonnerrhia. Those are all very small possibilities. Now none of your symptoms point to any std. They point more to anxiety, inspecting yourself and being genitally focused. Yes, reading symptoms lists is a bad idea. Especially for hsv as if you don't have a knowledge on the way the virus works then you can't understand the context of the symptoms. Everyone who is scared of hsv always points to itching and tingling sensations. You won't get either with a primary outbreak. Itching has been way over blown as well. I hope this helps and if i were in your shoes i wouldn't be concerned and would surely progress in my current new relationship.
Congrats on your use of a condom. They do work extremely well

@feelingundone - that is not true that you don't experience a prodrone before your first outbreak. You may not know what it is, but you can have symptoms first. And I have had itching, I thought my first outbreak was a bite.
