I heard Dr. Hansfield has only seen 2 occurrences of hand to genital transmission. I’d like to know the details of those transmissions or some of them.
Hand to genital transmission of herpes? I haven't heard that, but Dr. Handsfield isn't on this site any longer. If you can link me to where you read that, I might be able to help.
Do you have herpes? Are you just concerned you might? If you can tell me the whole story, I can help you better.
Your glands might be swollen if you are having outbreaks. They wouldn't be swollen without them.
Hands don't transmit STDs. If someone had herpetic whitlow, and had an active outbreak, they could transmit that, but herpetic whitlow (herpes on the finger) is very painful, and noticeable, and it's not something you'd miss, or they'd likely be touching you with.
He mentions that he's only seen 2 cases of herpetic whitlow associated with genital herpes. He means that he's only seen 2 cases where someone got whitlow from someone who had genital herpes, not that someone got genital herpes from someone who had whitlow.
Fingering doesn't transmit herpes, or any STD. Whatever it is that is causing your swollen lymph node isn't related to the fingering.
There are a LOT of reasons why you might have that, and you should let your doctor determine if that's what you have, or maybe you have a pulled muscle, or something else, but if you do, a urinary tract infection, yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, and a bunch of other things could cause a swollen lymph node. Most of the time, you don't just have one swollen node, though.
If you're having pain, see your doctor. You don't even have to mention the fingering. It doesn't cause anything.
If he had whitlow, and fingered you, you'd only have genital herpes. Your throat wouldn't be sore from that. Herpes only affects the location in which you were infected - if you got oral herpes, you wouldn't genital symptoms. If you get genital herpes, you wouldn't have oral symptoms. You might get a headache and some aches and pains, as your body is trying to fight something, but you wouldn't have a sore throat.
You wouldn't have to check to see if he had whitlow. He'd know. His finger would hurt badly enough that he wouldn't be fingering you with it. I don't know what caused your symptoms, but it wasn't an STD.
Herpes symptoms appear within 2-20 days, with an average of 4, after exposure. A month would be unusual.
You could have had an allergic reaction to something, an infected hair follicle, a Bartholin cyst, a yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, or easily a dozen other things.
What it is not is herpes or another STD. Obviously, you are free to believe what you want to believe, but medically, it just isn't possible, and I don't know any other way to say that.
