Possible for Same Person to have HSV 2 oral and genital

Is it possible for a person to have the same type of hsv in two different locations?  For example, my gf has hsv2 genitally.  Can she also have it orally and transmit it to me via oral sex?

Are you still currently having vaginal sex with your gf?   When is the last time?

you can't really test her to see if she has hsv2 orally. You'd have to do daily pcr swabbing of her oral area for weeks/months and that is far too expensive to be worth it. Honestly, this isn't worth any of the worry you are putting into it!!  If you are concerned about contracting herpes genitally from receiving oral sex, only receive protected oral sex.

I have tested 3 times, last time 10 weeks post sexual exposure (condom protected) and was negative IGG herpeselect.

This **** is wiping me out.  I love her and want to avoid herpes too.  I deal good in numbers.  What percent chance would you assign to me being able to get hsv 2 from her orally - unprotected?

Do you recommend I use a condom w/her for oral sex?

Can she be tested to see if she also has hsv2 orally?  If so, what test would do this?  I guess if she has it orally, then she could give it to me by kissing me?

How will I know for sure if she has given me herpes via oral sex?

were you tested for herpes prior to starting this relationship to know your own status?

irritation can cause redness as well as fungal infections can too.

it's incredibly unlikely you'd contract hsv2 from her performing oral on you.  odds are she doesn't have hsv2 orally and even if she did, the odds would still be incredibly low of you contracting it from oral sex from her.

What would cause red skin, apparently under the skin, just beneath the head of my penis?  It occurred 2 days after oral sex and I know the lady has hsv2 genitally.

Knowing that, what are my chances or acquiring hsv2 from her via her performing oral sex on me?  Should I always use condoms when she performs oral sex on me?

yes you can have it in both locations. my reply addressed that.

only getting symptoms after oral sex isn't likely to be due to herpes.

To confirm we are all on the same page - can she have hsv2 down low and up high (orally and genitally within the same person)?

Yes, we practice condom protected sex vaginally but have not been practicing protected oral sex because I didn't think it was possible she could have hsv2 orally as well.  Was I mistaken?  I have noticed the last 2 times after she performs oral on me that the skin right below my head gets really red but doesn't bump or blister.  Does this sound like herpes or just abrasion from the oral sex?

You can have hsv2 orally but for the majority of people who have it, it doesn't reoccur very often and it doesn't shed very often. so even if your gf did have it orally also, the odds of you contracting it from unprotected oral sex are very low. It could happen but you are more likely to contract it genitally than orally.

does your gf take daily suppressive therapy? do you practice protected sex and protected oral sex?

HSV-2 in the oral location is extremely rare.  While it can happen that a person can infected both locations it is not always the case.
