Last week, I went to my doctor about a rash I noticed about one inch down inside the crease of my buttocks. I had had it about a week prior to that started out as one little irritated area which occured after wearing a thong to a sweaty day at work, and like the dummy I am, I scratched it, and broke the irritated skin open. After I broke the skin, I noticed the itching got worse, but still no pain. It was a little weepy, and the weep reminded me of a yeast infection discharge. Then I noticed two little dots about 2 red inches from the original spot, which were pain free, but itchy, and actually increased in itchiness when touches or washed.
I had something similar nine months ago, after wearing a thong to a really sweaty job. It was first misdiagnosed as bacterial, but then i was given diflucan and Nystatin cream, which cleared it up in a few days. Its in an area slightly different to present -- about 2 inches lower, and was fully healed in a week.
Presently, I went to my school doctor- a male, who insisted that it did not look fungal by any means (he said because it was weepy), and took a culture for Herpes. He said that in his professional opinion, it looked like Herpes.
That same day I made a trip to my family physician-a female, who said that she really couldn't tell because it had been scratched open, and could now either be fungal with a complicated bacterial infection, could be a viral infection other than Herpes, but insisted that I'd know if I had genital Herpes. She said it could be Simplex-1, but that's a stretch for the location of it.
She provided me with a clotrimazole and betamethasone cream, which has helped clear it up quite a bit, but I noticed a new dot that popped up. It is very small, and seems to be diminishing with the creams use, but the three spots (the original broken one healed) are still quite itchy.
I'm in a monogamous relationship, and both my boyfriend and I were screened generally 3 months ago and nothing came up. Neither of us carry Simplex-1 either.
So I guess my questions are....is it possible to get any kind of herpes in that area.....two...is the time between the breakouts (nine months) normal for herpes?....three...aren't doctors suppose to give you a pill immediately if they think you have genital herpes...four....I'm on my 3rd week of the infection, and it still seems to be slightly present. How long is an outbreak suppose to last?....five....what does my problem sound more like, herpes or yeast?
