Possibly herpes?

So recently, about a week or so ago I noticed a red bump on the side of the shaft of my penis and at first thought nothing of it. It lingered however and a few more appeared but were smaller and none were in groups. None of these were open sores and are simply small red bumps, The first three or so have since healed and disappeared. There are a few more smaller bumps but none cause any pain. Also I noticed some slight irritation when urinating for a day or so then no more, and slight urethra pain as well which is gone unless i apply a fair deal of pressure to right below the head of my penis. I've been pretty worried that it might be herpes but upon reading more on these forums I'm not quiet sure anymore. I've had unprotected sex with a girl who i know to be std free and one other who has never had visible symptoms or any other signs. I'll be going to a doctor soon hopefully before my insurance runs out so any help would be very much appreciated thank you.

Odds are that you've never been tested for herpes and neither has any of your partners. It's not a part of routine std testing. Also don't be naive - when folks are telling you they are std free, odds are they aren't getting properly tested so use a condom when it's not a regular partner who's std status you are sure of.

Rashes can be due to many things.  Definitely follow up on this with an exam on monday. the longer you wait, the less likely you are to get an accurate diagnosis quickly if this is herpes.

Definitely goto a Doctor and get a complete std screen.  If you have irritation with urination it is highly likely a sign of something.  It could be chlamydia or gonorrhea.

The way herpes usually works is you get a water blister that forms... then it bursts open... the fluid inside the blister is loaded with viral particles.  Then you have a painful open sore that has to heal.   This is what my Doctor told me is a the way to recognize herpes.

It doesn't sound like herpes to me so don't worry too much.  But I'm certainly not an expert either.
