Prodrome, lesionless outbreak, or something else?

For about the last week, I have had vaginal and anal itching, general weird feelings "down there." I did have a stomach deal last week where I was wiping a lot, had shaved/had some irritation and had some issues with my allergies that had/have me itching in other places as well.  I have not noticed any blisters or lesions. Typically when I have had an outbreak the lesion is painful. I just find it odd that theses symptoms have persisted.

I have been taking Valtrex daily for over a week as a partner of mine is coming to visit me late next week. I took 500mg suppression dose for a few days, but then took 1000mg for the last 3-4 days in case if this is an outbreak. I have never had lesions on my vagina, they are typically in the anal region or between they anus and vagina, but much of the itching there.  I was diagnosed 17 years ago, have had very few outbreaks and my first was fairly minor as well.
The Valtrex doesn't seem to be helping the symptoms. Of course I am thinking about it constantly too, worrying. I don't want to endanger my partner, but I also don't want to worry about something that may not be related to my positive HSV-2 status. Any thoughts on this would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Well I went and you were right, not an outbreak. Actually was a yeast infection. The doctor said she saw no lesions, but possibly old scars. I am sooo relieved and now that I have taken the medication feel more comfortable. It should clear in a few days. Thanks again for everything!

Thank you. You really helped me. The symptoms are feeling better today. But still going to go to the doctor.  I am stressing less as well. There comes a point in the worrying where it's so exhausting and consuming that I just had to let it go. Will let you know how the exam goes.

I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to answer. I was thinking (and hoping that) too. I am glad to get some feedback. It's strange that the itchy/burny almost tightness has continued.
I am further into menopause and am in a very dry climate so this could be part of it as well as many other things. I am not prone to yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis so it's a mystery. I know worrying about it constantly doesn't help.
I am due for my annual gynecological exam, so I went ahead and made an appointment for tomorrow to have the exam, but also to have the area looked at in case I missed anything or if there is something else going on.
I will continue the Valtrex at 500mg per day, since that is the suppression dose and since I took 1000mg for I think 3 days worried it was an outbreak.
Thanks so much again. It really helps.

This doesn't sound hsv related. Prodrome symptoms will almost always be followed up by an outbreak. Just keep up the valtrex and keep an eye on it. Between the valtrex and condom protected sex your partners risk is incredibly small
