most people who have hsv1 orally don't get obvious cold sores to know it. You can thank mom and dad for good genes more than anything :)
if you both have hsv1 orally, it's incredibly unlikely you'd transmit the virus to your partners genitals and vice versa. always err on the side of caution and if you have obvious oral symptoms, avoiding performing oral until they are gone.
the link I provided answers your last question.
If me and my partner have oral herpes and we perform oral sex on each other can we get genital herpes? If i dont have a cold sore present could i still transmit to someone else?
My test was a week after the exposure grace. So no more testing than? One more question, when you first get infected with genital herpes do you get symptoms and if you do how long for them to show up? how come i dont get cold sores? how canker sores last in the mouth? are the contagious? Sorry, just want to educate myself. Thank you Grace.
Thank you for your respond Grace. Thats what I was told at the urlogy and dermatologist that if i didnt show a blister within a month of the exposure to not worry about it. The dermatogolist said i have a fungal infection that was causing the itchiness around my genitals and i had follicuites. He scraped a clear glass to check for fungus and it was fungus. I just wanted your opinion cause from reading from your comments on posts seems your well inform with herpes. Thank you for your time. So No worries of catching genital herpes from this exposure?
there's no such thing as being exposed to herpes. you either have it or you don't. if you tested + for it on the igg test then you most likely have it whether you can recall obvious cold sores or not ever. http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm has terrific info on oral herpes for more reading.
you already having hsv1 yourself means that you aren't likely at all to contract hsv1 genitally which is the main risk from receiving oral sex. no reason for more testing. no reason for more worries about herpes from this.
Sorry Grace for the confusion but i meant to say i received unprotected oral sex. Yes i have tested + for oral herpes. The doctor said i was expised to it and might not have the virus and wont be likely to transmit to someone because i never recall having a cold sores on my lips. Just a pimple there and there and ill pop them and they will be gone the next two days. By this time shouldnt i had a blister already if i was infected with genital herpes from this exposure?
