Really depressed herpes 2 diagnosed

Doctor:

Four years ago I was diagnosed with genital
warts. I had them frozen off to only return within a month or two. So I decided to try the prescription drug Aldara on the advice of a dermatologist after he tried applying some similar acting agent product in the office with limited results after 5 weekly visits. Within 1 week of treatment my genitals became extremely sensitive and red, I also experienced  herpes like outbreaks on my lips and a general feeling of tiredness and malaise.  Three weeks into the therapy I developed two large sores on my scrotum. After four weeks I stopped using the mess and went to see the dermatologist. His initial thought was the sores were related to a reaction to aldara. But did a culture on the sore and ordered a blood test for herpes. I felt relieved yesterday when the culture came back negative. Then today ..The worst news possible. My herpes 2 test came back positive.  2.53 was the score and it was done by quest labs. At this point that is all I know. The sores mostly healed at this poi t a week later. Honestly I now feel like a virus center and I am really depressed about my future. Especially Considering I just broke off a 4 year relationship and just started dating again. So I guess a call to a psychiatrist is in order. Anyway my questions are what are the general chances of a false positive at that reading? Could aldara cause a false reading as a response mechanism? I read today aldara has issues with the onset of herpes . Can you add color to that? I feel like such a loser.

As my post stated I tested positive for herpes 2. I did t bother with one since I had that since childhood. Should I wait before taking the 2nd test or does it matter?

What test did they do? Quest usually does the herpes select type specific. What hsv did you test positive for? The biokit is a good verification test for hsv2  to save time but the WB is the most desired. If you test positive with the biokit for hsv2 it would be considered conclusive if testing positive with the herpes select prior.

Life I been reading that the western blot is the definitive test not the biokit. Do you think that is the right protocol?

Hi, since you had a negative swab there is a chance the blood test is a false positive as in that  range. Anything under 3 would need retesting to verify. But you need a differnt test. What might be good is take the biokit which is hsv2 specific and quick and simple.
