Recurrent outbreak, dermatitis, birth control sensitivity?

I am HSV1 positive since 2007. My first outbreak was the worst and looked like your classic blister that started as a bump, turned yellow and fluid filled, and crusted. None of the recurrent outbreaks have ever reached a stage beyond a red bump--an extra Valtrex pill has always helped and they would go away in 2 days or so. I would get prodrome symptoms. Occasionally I'd get a papercut-like sore right before my period but again, gone in 2 days or so and very mild, and infrequent.

I started on birth control in December (Lo Lo Estrin) and I broke out in a rash down there after the second pack. I went to my gyno and it was swab tested and this was not a herpes outbreak, she said it was dermatitis. It cleared up and I switched to a different,  but still low dose, birth control.  The birth control has helped my otherwise nightmarish periods and my doctor seemed to think that "evening out" my hormones would help eliminate those pre-period little sores (it has). I'll also note that I'm really active and sweat a lot and spend a lot of time outdoors.

Now I am at the end of my second pack of this birth control and the rash is back. It's around my anus and looks more like tiny pimples and is red. It doesn't look like my usual mild outbreaks and has lasted longer, and is also in a different place. I've had it for 5 days now and it has not changed appearance. Could this be related to my birth control? I could go back to the doctor but I'm afraid I'm worrying for nothing. Would it be likely that my herpes outbreak has all of a sudden changed form completely?

Outbreaks almost always appear in the same spot, give or take an inch. I would not be concerned that your butt outbreaks are herpes. But if you have have them swabbed as well.

Yes, it's genital and I had a swab of the lesion done when I had the very first outbreak. I don't know the specific result breakdown, but it was definitely a swab. I broke out less than a week after receiving oral sex from a man with a raging cold sore (I had no idea it could be transmitted that way).
