Red Scrotum so scared it could be herpes? help!

For two years now Ive had a itchy, burning, red scrotum... this all started the day after having sex with my current girlfriend. I didnt clean up after and noticed the redness the following night. I have had this redness for so long, on the left side there seems to be a spot thats more irritated burning feeling. Ive never had any blisters or anything. I do have a red line in my groin fold that seems to never go away. Ive been prescribed everything from steroids, cortizones, oral bitotics, elidel. Elidel had helped with the redness on my inner thigh. Cortizone seems to make the redness worse. There are days were the redness is less red and almost looks like a slightly redder scrotum but other days its a bright red. I went on elidel back in january and it helped lower the redness but the redness came back at the end of april and still remains, elidel doesnt work on scrotum only in inner thigh. Last week the scrotum skin just flaked all off and the skin underneath looked normal but is back to red and SUNBURN feeling. I have also been prescribed silver sulferdazine (SPELLING?) that helped take away redness but it came back again. Im deathly afraid this is herpes. The red line stops before the penis and you can def tell the difference. I have a line of normal skin between the testicles. Like i said this has been going on for 2 years now. I have reddness itching, and sunburn feeling. I just saw a dermatologist and he said it was irritant contact dermatitis. Then I saw a urologist and he said he didnt know what it was, ive been to the dermatologist 6 times urologist 2 and my PCP more times than I can think HELP!

grace can you do me a favor and look at the photo i posted in my pictures... is that white spot look like herpes?

sometimes it is a lot of trial and error to find out what is causing dermatitis.  if you haven't already, try changing soaps and laundry detergents as well as when you are at home, sometimes just going bottomless is helpful too. if you wear a bathrobe, it won't scare the neighbors as much ;)

Ok I guess I kinda understand what your saying Ive never had any other symptoms till this... but i guess from what your saying is that genital herpes doesnt cause these symptoms? it cause more of painful blisters... my dermatologist said it wasnt herpes just irritant contact dermatitis so I guess I will have to believe him and just move on

if you need the peace of mind, seek out a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what your status is but even if you do find out you do have genital herpes from it, your current symptoms aren't from herpes. make sense?

continue to follow up with the dermatologist as needed.

So do you think I can relieve my mind? I noticed last night a decent size bump on the side of my left testicle but nothing else anywhere else just the symptoms I keep having the redness itchy and burning feeling... I apologize like my username states ive just been a wrecked mess even after seeing two doctors this past friday

zoster wouldn't cause symptoms just there and for this long. neither would genital herpes.

Grace so you dont think this is herpes? Everything on the internet suggests that it could... even how it responds badly to cortizone? Im just been worried sick about it. The urologist said that it could be like herpes zoster cause I told him that there is define line between red skin and reg skin. then he went onto to say that he doesnt know what it is and that it looks like dry skin.. any help would be grreat to ease my mind Ive been backing away from sexual relations with my long term gf cause of this

this isn't due to herpes going on.
