Confused about Herpes Tests

I went to the Dr is 2004 because I had swollen lymph nodes in my groin and my Dr told me I had herpes. I have never had sores and was never tested at that time. I got pregnant in 2005 and had several cultures done while I was pregnant because I was worried about my babies and they were all negative! I finally decided to get blood tested in 2011 to confirm if I truly had it or not. Here are the tests and results.
Serology/ Immunology
HSV 1 DNA negative
HSV 2 DNA negative
Virology
HSV 1 DNA negative
HSV 2 DNA negative
These were from Compunet Lab.
I was shocked, but relieved. I decided to get retested January 2013 because I am thinking about leaving my husband and wanted to be sure I did not have Herpes. My Dr tried to talk me out of it, but I did not want to infect someone else. Here are the test results.
HSV 1/2 Ab IBLOT IgG
HSV 1 IgG IMMUNOBLOT Negative
HSV 2 IgG IMMUNOBLOT Positive
HSV ANTI-COMMON AG Positive
This test was done through ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City, UT
I have been with my husband for 12 years now. He says he has never had any symptoms, but refuses to get tested. He will never go to the Dr. I have seen where there are false positives, and where there should be a numerical value, and I called the lab and picked up my results and they said they do not have a numerical number and they only have positive and negative. My question is how accurate are these tests and is there a chance this is a false positive? Should I get tested again? Or is this just wishful thinking? I appreciate any help! Thank you in advance!

Thank you for your help! I have another appointment next week, so hopefully I can get him to order the WB blood test.

your provider needs to update their herpes knowledge and read the 2010 cdc herpes guidelines. Not confirming your status at this point is actually grounds for malpractice :(

Thank you so much for your response. My dr does not feel it is necessary to have another test done, even though there are no clinical signs of HSV 2. Is there any other way to get the WB blood test without going through my dr.

your first testing from 2011 appears to be herpes pcr blood testing which wasn't worthwhile at all.  herpes is not a blood borne infection so in adults with a well established infection, pcr testing on blood is absolutely useless.  You also appeared to have a pcr lesion culture done too which is of very limited value unless active symptoms are present.

the current testing you had done, the immunoblot, also has false positive issues so you will need to confirm your hsv2 igg from that testing with further testing. we recommend seeking out a herpes WB blood test for this.  the immunoblot doesn't return with numbers either - it's just a + or -.
