Scared I have HSV1 and passed it on

Hi

For the past 2 days I have had a burning/stinging sensation on my upper lip, the sensation is actually on my lip not on the edge of it. It is worse when I lick my lips. No sore or blister has formed yet and I have no fever or malaise. There is a small thing on my lip which looks more like a cut than a fully blown blister or sore.

I am scared because yesterday when when my lip wasn't stinging I kissed my mother on the cheek and I am terrified that I actually do have Herpes and I have passed it on to her. I last visited an escort about a week ago and french kissed her, she had no signs of Herpes around her mouth.

I also visisted a massage parlour 2 days ago and this happened - http://www.medhelp.org/posts/General-Health/Massage-incident/show/2179148#post_10414548

Do you mean 60% of the USA? Do you know what the figure is in the UK? There doesnt seem to be much information about it here. When I went to get tested for STDs a few months ago the nurse dismissed herpes and said it wasn't an issue and just a simple skin condition.

Do you regularly see people in the US walking around with cold sores?,  ive only ever seen one person on the UK with active sores.

And yes I am fully aware of the risks with escorts but the need for female contact is too great and I dont think I am good enough to get a girlfriend so I uust settle for escorts. I always worry about STDs but its a risk I was willing to take.

Chances are low of spreading without an active cold sore, but "shedding" can occur without symptoms. For oral HSV1 shedding does not occur that often but it is tough to say you could have spread it with a simple kiss on the cheek without an active sore. I would rest easy on that possibility.

You always run a risk when dealing with escorts, you should know this. However, at least 60% of the population has oral HSV. It really isn't a big deal or something to be shamed about. Many people have it.

Ive never had a cold sore in my life.

Im more worried about passing it onto my mother and people I know and I don't know how I would deal with the shame of it. The thought makes me suicidial because I might have got it from the escorts I visit and we are supposed to go on a family holiday in June.

What are the chances I have passed it onto her by kissing her on the cheek without a full blown sore?

Also I am from the UK and testing for Herpes is not widely available like it is in the US.

Sounds like herpes to me orally. There are a few over the counter medications you can use to help with healing, but this sounds like herpes.

Have you ever had a cold sore before? You could have had his virus for quite some time. Many contract it in their youth.
