HIV test results

Recently had a HSV 2 IGG herpeselect test done. Have never had any symptoms but my partner of 15 yrs just had an outbreak in his anus which tested positive for Herpes 2. My test result was >5.00. I,m confused, is the result positive? Should we only have protected sex from now on or does it matter? Thanks

yes that is a + hsv2 result.

you both have hsv2 now so no reason for protected sex from a herpes standpoint.

keep asking questions if you have them :)

oh definitely avoid sex until the lesions have completely healed. the first ob takes the longest to heal and I'm sure he's mighty uncomfortable right now.

yes you can donate blood. herpes is not a blood borne virus.

This is his first outbreak that he knows of. Should we avoid unprotected sex or sex at all while he is having an outbreak? How long does it take for the outbreak to clear up and when would it be reasonable to have sex again? If I have an outbreak should I see a doctor for medication? Thanks for your response.
