Should I get retested for Herpes?

Ok so I was diagnosed with genital herpes about a year ago. The reason I went to get checked was because I had major discomfort in my vaginal area. I believed it was from shaving because I had shaved a few days before. I went to get checked and the ob/gyn immediately believed it was herpes. That day I took a blood test and a culture test and a few days later i found it was positive for the blood test (I am not sure what type.) and negative for the culture test.  A few months before this I got checked for the same reason, discomfort after shaving and the same doctor reassured me that it was from the shaving. Is it possible that I had herpes all along or is it possible that the blood test was wrong???

At the time I was tested, I only had 2 sexual partners. None of which had herpes. So I am confused because I have no idea how I got it.

With the diagnoses I have accepted it. I did research and found that there are suppression treatments and asked my doctor about it. I am taking acyclovir daily because if I do have herpes I don't want any other outbreak and want to lower chances of transmitting it.

I haven't had any type of outbreak or symptoms since. So I am really questioning if I have it? If I have it then I know the no symptoms is probably from the acyclovir but I'm not satisfied with the blood test result because I do not know what type I have and because I didn't get to see it visually.

Can I get retested even though I am taking acyclovir? The antibodies should be in my blood if I have it right? since its been a year? or should I just leave it at that?

did you by chance post previously about this under a different name?

you need to follow up on this with further testing to confirm your hsv2 status. since you aren't having frequent symptoms, I suggest a herpes WB blood test if you can get your provider to order it for you.

No she called me over the phone and said that I was positive. From what she saw she assumed it was genital herpes so im guessing type 2. I never actually saw the test result with the numbers which is why i am doubtful at this point. :/

do you recall your actual blood test results or is it possible for you to get them to post here?
