Recently diagnosed with Genital Herpes

I went to the doc today for what I thought was a yeast infection though I noticed it was almost unbearable to urinate. As soon as she took a look down there she instantly concluded it was herpes. She did a swab test and that will come back in 3 days. My boyfriend (I've only had two partners total) has HSV-1, Burt rarely gets breakouts. Though through oral it was transmitted to me.

Thank goodness he is there for me through all this. He is so apologetic and is doing everything to comfort me. This is obviously my first outbreak and it is so painful! On top of that I'm pretty sure I have a yeast infection with it :(. Doc gave me valtrex and a topical anesthetic to numb the pain from the sores down there. I so not wish this pain/itching/burning when urinating on anyone! It's so bad that i cry and scream a little when I pee.

Are there any tips on how to help make the urinating less excruciating? I've tried putting a towel over the sores while I pee but the pee still manages to get to them and sting like hell (like salt on an open ulcer). Any tips would be great. Thanks!!

Im sorry to hear that, and yes I know that pain. I got it about 2 years ago after going to the doctors thinking it was a yeast infection, and I still remember crying when i peed and being couch ridden for a few days. Not fun. But your first outbreak will be the longest and most painful, from then on it isn't nearly as bad. Im glad he is there to support you. Ive only had sex with one person and my boyfriend didn't know he had it because he never had an outbreak so for me the situation was a little more stressful. I don't  have any tips on how to pee without it stinging, it will probably hurt and be extremely swollen for a few days unfortunately, but maybe your doctor can give you some pain medication to help. Furthermore, I think you should look into some kind of therapy help because i wish i would have gotten some when it happened to me. Best of luck -hang in there !!

I can't believe hsv1 can present itself this way on the genitals. It doesn't make sense. I'm sorry for your pain. Your BF should be there for you, he caused this!

I would continue to take that Valtrex and hopefully it kicks in. Were you negative for HSV 1 + 2 prior to this?

Please post on the result of your swab. All the best.

I am sorry to hear about your pain.  I don't know where the outbreak is located, but you can numb it was ice and a wash cloth before you pee if you can get to it.  Just a thought.
