Hello Grace, thank you for being so kind and helpful to people on this site. My test did show I have hvs1 like you said but not for hsv2. Thank you and God Bless.
if you get a copy of the test results and post them here, I can better help you - e.g. hsv1 igg 4.3 and hsv2 igg .34 or whatever they are.
You are so kind for getting back to me. I did get tested and the results did come back as having something in the past but no current infection. The nurse friend of mine said she was not sure what it meant because it can be confusing and she was not really sure about the results. It has me worried. Will hsv1 show infection in the past? Would I get some kind of sores down below if I did at one time have hsv2? I will not bother you again. I really do appreciate it. She scared me a little and the only way I would have caught this would have been through oral sex which I do not do anymore. God Bless and thank you.
yes , cold sores are hsv1. you can just get tested for hsv2 since you know you have hsv1.
it's very unlikely you'd contract hsv2 from oral sex.
Thank you for the information, if you can please answer me this question. I do have hsv1 because I get it on my lip about once a year. If I was to take a test for Herpes would it show positive for Herpes? I've never had any isssues below the waste but I do get sore in the groin area after have sex at times. I appreciate your time.
PS. Are the chances high of getting HV2 from just oral sex? Thanks again.
the rates of hsv1 and hsv2 infections in gay males are pretty high so it's well worth knowing your status and that of your partners. Unless you know your partner and their status, you should only be giving and receiving protected oral sex too. Saves you a lot of worrying and money since you don't need testing if it's protected oral :)
whether you swallow or not really doesn't mean anything as far as std risk either. It's the heat and friction of the oral sex that is the issue.
if you have hsv1 orally, you can potentially transmit it to a partner when performing unprotected oral on them. You can contract hsv2 orally from performing oral sex on a partner but the risk of that is very low too.
