HSV and kissing

w2k
Wanted to know if you kiss someone around the neck or near the ear can you get HSV. I kissed a friend who I think gets oral sores. There was little kissing on the neck and ear at that time but no french kissing. This lasted for about 2-5 minutes. I did not see any cold sores at that time. Can this cause infection? I was worried because I felt a bump like formation in my mouth today (right side of inner cheek). It's roughly been a week since then.
So my question is if herpes can spread around the neck and be acquired.

It sounds like you are fine and should not be worried at all.

So am I safe from the infection now? I have mild symptoms like irritated areas in the mouth but no sores or ulcers as such. It is 8 days today. If nothing had occurred by now, am I risk free? Thank you.

HI, if a person has oral herpes, kissing them on the neck would be of little risk as shedding does not occur that often. Really nothing to be concerned about at all. Also is needs to be rubbing kissing to force the virus into the nerve. Most infection of oral herpes from simple kissing are when we are children and out immune system is not strong but for adults would take more than that.

Thank you for answering the query. Yes, I think it could be a canker sore. I was on antibiotics last week  and it could be a reaction to the medicines. I just hope its not hsv.
But does herpes spread around to the neck area and transmitted? Should I take it as a NO?

I'm not a physician but I've had some similar experiences and concerns. My understanding is that what you've described does not put you at risk for any STD. It would be a very exceptional freakish event that would lead to any STD from this experience, and is virtually impossible. I think others would say the same on this site. The sore you describe as within your mouth is most likely a canker sore which is clinically quite different from a herpes lesion/cold sore which occur primarily on the lips or around the mouth (not inside the mouth). that is my understanding from my own interaction on this site and personal study.
