I took Valtrex for a couple of weeks before I threw in the towel. I had bad headaches ot it. I switched over to acyclovir (b.i.d. instead of q.d., which is what Valtrex is), and the problem disappeared.
I figured maybe the Valtrex, which is once daily, was just too much medication at once for my body to handle. I do better on the b.i.d. dose of acyclovir.
Some people seem to have tingling sensations on the Valtrex, although I never did. It's nice to have choices, though, so if you try Valtrex and it doesn't work for you, you can try one of the other two meds.
Understood that side effects are possible with any drug, of course.
Actually I was curious if anyone on this board that IS taking Valtrex for suppression and noticed side effects immediatly after strting the drung , and what their side effects happened to be.
Thanks.
Are you having side effects? Or you just want to know if side effects are possible? Side effects are possible with any drug.
