I am POSITIVE

I RECENTLY BEEN RETESTED FOR HERPES. A YEAR AGO I NOTICE A UNCOMFORTABLE FEELING ON THE INSIDE OF MY LIPS. I WENT TO GET CHECK OUT AND BOTH TIMES THE TEST CAME BACK NEGATIVE. WELL I'M KNOW LONGER WITH MY BF THAT I HAD AT THE TIME AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANY BREAK OUTS UP UNTIL NOW. I'M DATING A NEW PERSON WE HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR 5 MTHS NOW. I JUST WENT TO GET TESTED AGAIN AND FOUND OUT I AM POSITIVE. I AM SCARE TO TELL HIM I AM POSITIVE FOR HERPES. BUT I'M GOING TO TELL HIM. MY LIFE IS UP SIDE DOWN NOW BECAUSE HE IS THE BEPST THING THAT HAS HAPPEN TO ME. AND JUST KNOWING I HAVE INFECTED SOME BECAUSE MY TEST WERE NEGATIVE THE TIMES I HAD TAKING THEM HAS ME LOST FOR WORDS. HOW DO I EXPLAIN THIS TO HIM AS WELL AS DEAL WITH THE FACT I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO HAVE A COMPANION IN MY LIFE OR NEVER GET THE HUSBAND I DESERVE. I'M CURRENTLY WAITING ON MY LAB WORK TO COME BACK SO I CAN MAKE SURE THIS IS ACCURATE BEFORE TELLING HIM. FOR AS I KNOW OF HE HASN'T HAD ANY SYMPTOMS.

correct, the virus is active during obvious lesions as well as periodically in between. have you given our free herpes handbook a read yet? link is in our read before posting post on the forum.

if your lesion culture was hsv2+, there won't be any numbers with it. was it typed or just + for herpes and assumed hsv2 since genital and you are waiting for blood work too?

lots of questions is fine - just keep them all in this post - thanks!!

I'm reading different stories on here and I just have a lot of question. Don't mean to be a bother. I'm just trying to.digest as much as possible with a clear understanding. I was told that u are contagious during ur outbreaks. But when I went to the Dr last she said that he could very well have it even if I haven't had a outbreak due to skin to skin shedding.

I can best help if you can get the actual results of your blood testing to post  here - e.g. hsv1 igg 7.9 and hsv2 igg .33 or whatever they are. that way I can be sure you were properly tested and see if you need any additional confirmatory testing done.

has all your testing been blood testing or did you have lesion cultures done too?

also if you can not type in all caps, it's much easier for me to read - thanks!

what testing did you have done this time that came back as +?

how do you talk to a partner about this? you just be open and honest. tell him the facts as you know them. your current partner will also need tested to know his status too.
