I received my test results today. they came out positive for HSV-1 with a igg number of 51.00. Does this indicate that my infection was recent? Why would the number be so high?

HSV-2  came out negative.

Could be a long standing infection but if it is more recent tben I would bet it's at least 6 months old.

how can i know the difference. its scary thinking this is something that i could have had for a very long time and never knew about it.
My educated guess is you've had this a long time. Your situation is very common. Most people have no idea they have hsv1.
