What is going on?!

Hi,
Since August, I have been on steady doses of antibiotics. In August, I got a severe bladder infection from the beach, in September, a sinus infection, in October, bronchitis, in November, Bronchitis again, and now I am sick again in December and no one can tell me why. That is not my main concern though. Since being on all of these antibiotics for the better part of five months, I have been experiencing some moderate yeast like symptoms. I was a little itchy and dryer than usual, but my discharge was normal, no weird colors, no odors and I had no pain aside from regular cramps from my period.
I finished my antibiotics from November on December the 5th, and started feeling bad again on the 10th or so. Same symptoms, coughing, chest tightness etc. However this time unlike the others, my fever was quite higher and spiked at around 102.8 for 3 days (over my birthday, coincidentally). On my birthday (day 3 of high fever) I started my Z Pack and started noticing some vaginal itching. I went to apply my usual treatment, a little bit of Vagisil for the itch and some A&D ointment for the rawness, and noticed 2 hard bumps on the inside of my vaginal canal. They weren't sore or itchy, I would have never noticed them if I hadn't physically touched them. Upon closer inspection with a mirror, I noticed they looked like canker sores that I get in my mouth usually when I have a fever. Like I said, no discharge, no odor, didn't really hurt or itch, about the size of two pencil erasers, and kind of hard underneath like an oral canker sore is (I get oral canker sores all the time when I get a fever but hadn't gotten any this time). I was a little freaked out and did some research on STD symptoms but didn't find any photos that looked like what I had.
The next morning I called the doctor right away, told them about my fever the day before and the sores. They asked me to come in. I inspected the sores again and noticed that they had shrunk in size by about 50% and I was still feeling minor discomfort that felt like dryness. My fever had also broken through the night and I haven't had an elevated temperature since. The doctor examined me and promptly informed that she thought that I had herpes (after vigorously rubbing the two small sores for cultures) though she wasn't sure. She prescribed me Valtrex and told me it would break my fever and make the sores disappear. I filled it but haven't taken any yet.
I was also raped in 2008, and a few months later met my current boyfriend who I have been with ever since. We have both been monogamous and not very sexually active (maybe 4 times a year). When I was raped I was tested and came up negative. He has only had one previous partner- a one night stand, with which he used protection. I have NEVER had any kind of outbreak like this at all, and I have been so upset all day thinking about how this will effect my life. I am embarrassed and ashamed even though I know it isn't my fault. I also contracted acute Mono in high school and since then have had constant health issues especially fighting illness and chronic illness.
Upon further examination tonight, the sores have lost their white color and are not very inflamed or red, no bleeding, nothing. No fever either- this is all without taking the Valtrex.
Is this genital herpes? Is it a reaction to so many different types of antibiotics and large amounts of ibuprofen to break my fever? Is it my fever that did this? Can you please help?
Thank you so much for your knowledge and care!

odds are you didn't have proper testing done then or at the proper time after the rape unfortunately.  also it's possible that if this is herpes, it's a new infection from your current partner. at this point you'll need to wait for test results and if need be, follow up with more testing for you both to get to the bottom of things.

did you call yet to see if your lesion culture for herpes was back?

Hi,
I will definitely do that. Did you read that my exposure was 4 years ago when I was raped? How is this happening now?

most people don't notice the signs of genital herpes when they occur ( 2-20 days after being infected ). they are also frequently misdiagnosed as being other issues.

call a gyn this week and go and get properly tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally.

Thank you Grace!
It is now day three, last night checked sores and they were healing nicely. This morning they are almost gone. I haven't been treated for yeast, I go to a family doctor and not a gyno and she seems a little complacent at times. I am very frustrated, I thought your first herpes outbreak was 2-4 months after exposure? It has been 4 years. Also, I have no other symptoms of herpes. If the cultures come back positive, we will both get tested, but I am waiting till I hear the results to truly freak out. I dont understand how this can happen.

herpes lesions will heal even if you don't treat them.  at this point wait for your lesion culture results. both you and your partner should follow up with type specific herpes igg blood testing too  regardless of the test results.  odds are you haven't both been properly tested for herpes before this.

you are at high risk for vaginal yeast infections but have yet to properly treat them from the sounds of your post  :(  Vagasil is not a yeast treatment - it's a symptom treatment. did they test you properly for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally when you were seen?    long term antibiotic use puts you at risk for many issues, including vaginal yeast infections.  You also might want to consider picking up a pack of culturelle at walmart or the drug store to start too. it's quite helpful when on antibiotics - it replaces your "good"  protective bacteria in your bowel and helps ward off some of the complications of antibiotic use.  You don't need to end up with diarrhea from C. diff from this many antibiotics on top of this all!!
