What should I do?

I have a huge fear of diseases. I have been tested multiple times and it seems my doctor treats me as a joke now... It's nerve wrecking.

I recently have been told that my ex has herpes. We used condoms every time we had sex but I gave him oral with out a condom... I am so nervous because I have had a sore throat, I have red dots on my tongue, blisters in my throat, always have chapped lips but it seems on the corners of my bottom lip seemed to be different, but not like herpes. Also on the outside of my lip in the corner of my mouth became irritated. The doc said it didn't look like herpes and it wasn't even testable. I'm so sick of worrying and going to the doc to stress more and get no answers... What can I do? I'm so scared and praying I'm okay, I had anti-bodies to herpes before all this, could that be why? Does that mean I have it? All the info I find I'm still confused. If I get a blood test could it come back negative, because theres not an active outbreak? Please help....

May want to see an ENT doctor about all the things with your tongue and throat. I had problems a while ago with my tongue and turned out I had a form of Glossitis, which is caused above all by,... stress & Worrying.. which I do alot...Go figure!

whether or not you think you have had symptoms or not, if you are infected, the virus is shedding periodically and can potentially infect others.

Yes lol it does... That does make sense. I just dont understand why I've heard people say and even my doctor says it's not a good test? If it is a final result then why would it be bad?

Also I think she meant someone testing positive for antibodies could mean they have it but haven't had any symptoms for years, therefore meaning the person most likely hasn't passed the virus. Could that be true?

you don't have herpes just because you have a numeric result. due to the way they do the test, you will always get a numeric result. we have the ranges for positive and negative and if you are in the negative range, then you are negative. make sense at all?

Hello again Grace.

I have not yet seen this question. You seem to be very educated so id like to get your take on this.

I just got back from the doctor and she told me that regaurdless of the herpes anti-bodie test coming up negative. That if you have any anti- bodies it means that you in fact have herpes. Is this true?

I have a small amount of anti-bodies and have never had even a cold sore, but does this mean that I have the virus and shed it from time to time?

I'm sorry, I'm confused...

your body produces detectable igg antibodies in response to infection with the virus regardless of if you get obvious symptoms or not. if you've waited at least 3 months for testing, the odds of a false negative are very, very low.

many things can cause throat pain including GERD , allergies and the common cold.

I think your right. I changed my toothpaste about a week ago and haven't had problems since. Also the docs so busy I still have to wait a few days but I believe I just have a common cold. Still curious about the very back of my thoat though.

Also, I am confused about the IGG test. If you test less than .9, you are negative. As in you do not have it at all? It confuses me cause it makes me think you could get a false negative if you do not get out breaks?

you can get a little pimple with cheilitis too. I've had it myself quite a few times ( finally figured out I was allergic to tartar control toothpastes ) and it usually starts out with a pimple like thing in the corner and redness.

Thank you for your reply Grace! It is much appreciated! :)

It has been 3 months and I have another appointment within the week and I am getting tested for everything, the whole 9 yards... So there's no questioning after that, hopefully it'll ease my mind.

Strep has been going around and I'm hoping that's all it is, but I find it odd that it isnt effecting my tonsils much at all... But I guess that's possible?

I have looked up angular chelitis and it does seem like that may be the problem too. But It wasn't so much of a cracking though, as it looked like fordyces spots? I tried to pop like a pimple and tried so hard that I irritated my skin. Cause the white spots are still there after weeks...

Once again TY for replying :)

were you seen for strep testing or anything other testing when you had your throat symptoms?

you need to wait 3 months after the last time you had sex with your former partner to get a type specific herpes igg blood test done.

angular cheilitis  is very common. google it to see if that's part of what is going on with your lips. It's common in people who drool  a lot when sleeping as well as it can be caused by certain toothpastes too.

My side of mouth became irritated by picking at what I hope was a very small pimple... The more I read the more I think to myself well yeah sounds like that's what it is. But how often do people get blisters just in the back of the throat? And what else could cause blisters in the back of the throat? And if it was herpes what are the odds of it being so perfectly at the corners of my bottom lip and that's all? Please help with some kind of answer, even if it's just to tell me how foolish I'm being... I'm sorry but I need some help with this. I'm a nervous wreck when I go to the doctors and I need to be stern to get done what I want done. But she's got me feeling like a hypochondriac! If my throat hurts with what looks like blisters, there has to be something wrong... Herpes, or no? Strep? Please someone say something!
