When do you need to be concerned?

Hi there, i think i just posted on the wrong forum.

I had a cold sore last week and it cleared but I have another one now up my nose that flared up yesterday.
It has a crust on it but now I have a tight sensation where my left sinus is, an allover headache and am worried that it could be something more serious.

I suffer from anxiety but when do you know you're not being a hypochondriac and when should you be concerned?

many thanks,
SA

Don't read too much into things and don't go looking for stuff on the Internet thats the worst thing any of us can do because we will be sure to read something scary that we THINK looks or feels like what we have then within 10 minutes we are convinced we have made a diagnosis and as you say there starts the vicious cycle the mind is a very powerful tool and will concentrate only on what you want it to and that can become a dangerous state if it's always gong to be about something being wrong health wise, if you suffer from anxiety it might be an idea to buy a nice relaxation cd and take 30mins each day for yourself to think about nothing at all except being calm and relaxed.

sorry another quick question.

if you've had cold sores all your life, does that make you any more immune to it spreading or more likely to spread to another part of your body? or is there no correlation?

thanks

Many thanks daisy.

I've had coldsores for over 20 years but I feel the more frequently I get them the more I worry and its a vicious cycle - you stress you get them, you have them you stress.

I've just been hearing more about encephalitis and it has me a little scared because I feel a little flu-ey.

If you have a cold sore up your nose it will cause pain around the face and indeed give you a headache because when cold sores start to dry up and crust over they feel like they are pulling tightly on the skin which is why most of us are guilty of licking and picking at them when they are on our lips, put some petroleum jelly ( vaseline )  up your nose it will slacken things off a bit and hopefully ease the tightness. If you feel things are no better in a day or two make an appointment to see your Doctor ......
