Chances of HSV from one time Protected Sex Encounter with a Prostitute in Bali.

Hi ,

I had an exposure about 8 days ago with a prostittue in Bali . It started with protected oral sex there after protected vaginal sex which lasted for 2 minutes i guess . There after we washed up and after 15 minutes had protected vaginal sex again and changed condoms thereafter she finished it of with oral sex .

I asked her before if she has been tested for STDs and she said she always does testing and she was clean . She did encourage condom use even for oral .

Based on my situation what are my chances of being infected with HSV2 ? Just being paranoid after reading condoms dont really protect HSV infection . So far I have not felt any symptoms .

I would let this go. While condoms don’t protect completely, you’ve had no symptoms. It’s good that she is adamant about condom usage. I think you should be just fine.

Tq for the encouraging words . I’ve had a type specific IGG test done before the encounter which was clean for hsv 1 and 2 . Do you think its a good idea of testing after one month after this encounter ? I do have a regular partner who I am concerned not to pass anything to her . I know I made a mistake and feel terrible about this .
Testing is completely up to you but it is not recommended to test so soon after a concerning encounter.  For the most accuracy for HSV2, It is recommended that you wait at least 12 weeks from the encounter. I really don’t think that there’s a reason for concern but if you feel the need to test, that is what you should do. Wait 12 weeks. You can always test now. And then test again later. I understand your concern for your regular partner but this is really your decision. You haven’t had any symptoms and I think that you’re just freaking yourself out because you feel a bit of guilt. Perfectly normal to feel guilty about something that happens outside of our regular relationships. Does that mean that this is just guilt and there isn’t something going on? No. Not necessarily. But I think you really are freaking yourself out for no reason. That’s my opinion on this.
