Yeast infection or something more serious?

Sorry to be so graphic. About a week ago I had all the tell-tale signs of a yeast infection. Super itchy, cottage cheese discharge, ect. I bought an otc 3 day treatment. I used it for a day, then started my period so I stopped treatment. The itching remained, but My discharge returned to what seems to be a normal consistency, but there is still much more than usual. A few days later I developed and very itchy painful rash below the vaginal opening down to the anus. The rash has progressively gotten worse over the last few days and the area always seems wet. There are now spots where there seem to be lesions or just breaking from irritation. There are no sores, or issues above this area. Could this rash be caused by the yeast infection or should I be concerned about something more serious. Possibly herpes?? I have had unprotected sex in the last month and took a plan b. I know I need to see a doctor for actual results, but I do not have medical insurance and am just curious if anyone else has had similar issues?

If you don't have insurance go to planned parenthood and have them take a look!! I battled a bad yeast infection and BV for months, and never had a rash... However yeast infections are known to give rashes. Just be on the safe side and have it looked at

The rash could be caused by the yeast going on, but it could be a number of things. Since you are having symptoms down there, be seen by a doctor immediately to find out what's going on.

Lesions that look wet and like spots can be herpes, yes. The only way to find out is getting such lesions swabbed. If you wait too long, you won't get prompt answer and will end up spending more money with additional blood tests.
