a cold sore that wont go away

hi.... i have a cold sore on my lip and it just wont go away!!! its been there now for over 5 months now!!!! ive decided to get some blood work done, and the result revealed that i have hsv-1.. i was pretty upset when i found out... my doctor prescibed me zovirax and valtrex but both of these prescriptions didnt work at all  for me ... i use vit c, b complex daily... i took out peanuts, chocolate, and spicy food out of my diet... i mean im doing everything to help my immune system and cut out the severity of the outbreaks and lover my stress levels .. but the thing that is bothering me is that this thing is not going away from my lip, and its been more than 5 months now... is this normal for a outbreak??? i mean from the thing that im reading a outbreak last from 1 to 3 weeks tops..... but 5 months?? can anyone help me with this? what other specialist can i see about this , because the doctor that i see, just seems not to care about anything....

a cold sore will never linger for 5 months. all the herpes antivirals in the world aren't going to make it go away if it's not herpes causing it. see a dermatologist at this point to find out what is really going on.

no  need to change your diet either  because of herpes. now some folks do get cold sores from spicy foods and acidic foods but no reason to avoid peanuts and chocolate or any specific food groups!

Chances are this isn't a cold sore.  Keep working with your provider or look into seeing a dermatologist.
