How quick can a sore develop?

Hey just wondering how quick after kissing someone could a sore possibly develop.  Is it possible that 7 hours after a kiss, tingling could be present already. I have frequent canker sores, but dont get cold sores.  My lip is swollen and feels strange and not sure if a sore is coming.  Thanks.

no, a newly acquired oral herpes infection would not present with symptoms 7 hours after acquiring it.

If your lip is swollen for 4 days now, it's time for follow up with your provider.

Thanks.  But i guess I was asking is 7 hours enough time to have any symptoms, like the "tingling" feeling.  It's 4 days now and there is nothing there yet, but my upper left lip is swollen pretty bad.  Seems to be the worst when getting up in the morning.  I have been using chap stick to keep them wet.  Anything you know will be appreciated.

It would take a few days before you'd see a cold sore.  If you are concerned, follow up on this with your provider.

Are you putting moisturizer on your lips in case this is just chapped lips?
