Is it possible not to spread herpes?

ok, I'm probably just being paranoid but I have a question.

lets say I have genital herpes ... is it possible that I don't infect my partner?

I have had only one partner for 6 years, and I have two children. I did some things when I was a young girl that I regret with all my heart - like have unprotected sex with 4 people (over the course of 4 or 5 years) that I had no history on other than all of them slept around.

I have these strange hard little bumps on my external genetillia. They look like cysts to me, but I am a worrier. I am going to the doctors next week to be checked, but I really wanted to know if it was possible to have the virus for several years, have unprotected sex for several years and not infect the other person? my children also do not show any sign of the disease and neither does my husband.

also, I have had no symptoms of the disease other than maybe ONE pimple here or there higher up in my pubic hair. no clusters, no sores, no discharge .... can someone enlighten me please?! i'm going out of my mind and I'm afraid that if that's what i have, my husband would pretty much leave me with two children and one on the way, because honestly ... who would believe me if i told them that i wasn't cheating? that i had had it for years and never knew?

I've been tested for syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia already, but that's it

Hard bumps aren't likely to be due to herpes. definitely follow up on it with your provider though.

odds are that you've never been tested for herpes before so ask for a  type specific herpes igg blood test when you are seen too so that you can put that thought to rest.

Can you have herpes and not transmit it to your partner? Sure you can. at this point find out your status then decide if your partner needs tested too and go from there.
