cold sores

About three days ago, i had oral sex with my girlfriend. Two days before i did, i had gotten the tingling sensation you usually get before you get a cold sore. I applied Abreva, and the tingling went away. The next day i had no symptoms the cold sore was going to develop. Then the day after, i engaged in oral sex with my partner. Today however, i woke up with a visible cold sore developping. I am very worried about the possibilities that i have given my girlfriend genital herpes through oral sex, even if i had no blister or visible signs. Is what I'm saying possible, or am i just worrying. Is it even possible to transmit it when there is no blister? Please let me know, i am very worried. Thank you.

Just because she's never had cold sores doesn't mean that she doesn't have hsv1. Why not while this is on your minds, both of you go for type specific herpes igg blood testing. that way you know who has hsv1 and make sure too that neither of you has hsv2 and didn't know it.

Shes never had any cold sores in her life. The thing is though, on the day i performed oral sex, we also made out and kissed. If no cold sores would appear from the kissing, does that mean that chances are that it wont appear on her genitals either? If so, what are the chances? Thank you for your time.

Has your gf ever been tested before to know her status? Or can she recall ever having cold sores before?

It really does sound like you were having prodromal symptoms which means that the virus probably was active during this time. As newatthis already advised - should she notice any symptoms genitally she should be seen promptly for a proper work up and treatment.

It is possible to transmit during oral sex without visible signs of a breakout.  If she already has the virus in one area, it is thought that the body has a better defense against.  Hopefully she is fine, but unfortunatly the only thing to do now is wait.  She just needs to be aware of any new symptoms.  If she starts noticing any discomfort, itching, redness or flu like syptoms these are usually the first to appear.  If any blisters do form she should go to the doctor immediatly.  It is best to be tested within the first 48 hours.  Also for some people the symptoms can be brutal, so the sooner the medicine gets in the body the better.  Although some people don't have obvious signs of a breakout.  I will keep my fingers crossed for the two of you!
