confusing test result Herpes

Dear readers!
First sorry for my bad english im from Europe.
Im a male.
About 10 years ago i made a HPV swab test.
The doctor took a swab test from inside my urethra,a few days later the test came negative for HPV,but positive for herpes simplex.
Now my question how is it possible to test for HPV,and they found Herpes simplex?
Could this test be wrong?
I never had any symptoms my entire life.
Kind regards

I think wait and see, there is always the chance of being HSV1 positive owing to an oral infection.

What do you think they were testing for besides HPV?
Well i saw the paper after i got the results, and there was written HPV negative.
I certanly will follow your advice and go for the Igg test.
If the test will be negative, can i be sure that i am negative?

kind regards

I don't think they were testing for HPV, there is no reliable test for males for HPV and a urethra swab certainly isn't one.

All a bit strange reallt, I'd have the blood test to check status.

A routine test that involved a swab of your urethra? Really?

You must have an IgG test for HSV1 and HSV2 antibodies, type specific.

A swab can be tested for multiple things, so it is possible.

What were the symptoms that led to the swab test?

It may be best to confirm with a blood test.
