diagnosed a week ago :(

im from the uk so slightly different treatments here i guess.
was given aciclovir and told to be patient, im not very patient!!! dont get my results back until this wk, but they were 90% sure it was herpes. i've had bv before too, but i had blisters so pretty sure they're right.
how long does the ob take to clear up normally? anything i can do to speed things up a little?

condoms only reduce transmission of herpes by 30%. you can't rely on them enough to not need proper testing done.

yes i have but we use condoms and were both tested around xmas time. told you they do things differently in the uk.
anyway its irrelevant now as my test results all came back negative! im waiting on smear results for gonorrea, trichamoniasis?? and vaginosis etc, but i only got tested for those 2 weeks prior to this happening.
so obviously i have a whole new set of questions :(

1. could it be vaginosis?? im still waiting on my smear results which i know will be clear. i did get treated for vaginosis, but i didnt think it could get that bad. i had actual blisters and was in agony, and the GUM nurses were 90% sure i had herpes.

2. what else could it be?

thnx for all the help

they are wrong! he does need testing!! he'll need the type specific herpes igg blood test done to know what his status is. you two can't make educated decisions about what precautions to take until he knows his own status.  you have been with him while you were diagnosed correct?

im not sure but they basically said he doesn't need testing if he doesn't have symptoms, i use condoms anyway. jus wish my results would hurry up!

they do the blood tests for herpes, just not in the gum clinics. You need to pay out of pocket at a private clinic for it. your partner will need to get tested to know what his status is before the two of you can decide what precautions to take, if any.

they really don't do it different in the UK. Just getting the testing done isn't one stop like it often is here in the US.

i think they may do this differently in uk to you guys.
basically i do but he doesn't have symptoms so they wont test him. they only test you when you have symptoms over here, they wont do the blood tests.
they pretty much tested me for everything, get my results this week and next.
i wasnt planning on having sex yet, not sore but still red so guessing its not gone lol.

also do you have a regular partner? If so, have they been tested yet?

don't have sex yet! give it all time to thoroughly heal.

did they also test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too when you were seen?

you can soak in epsom salts once or twice a day in the tubby.  that helps to increase your comfort . also you can steep a tea bag and use it at as a compress on the lesions too for pain relief and to help dry them out.

the first ob takes the longest to run its course, even with treatment.  Plan on a good week and then it should be getting better.
