herpes?

I am a 24 year old male and had protected sexual intercourse with a female 5 weeks ago. the day after my testicles turned red.over the last five weeks my penis opening has swelled my penis shaft is swollen and hard and last my anal cavity swelled. it seems to be going away now but i cant tell if its the antibiotics or a primary herpes mild reaction subsiding. I have tested negative for herpes 1 and 2. then i tested positive for 1. then negative again for both.  over the last 5 weeks my doctor has told me that i have a yeast infection(changed his mind) then epididymitis with levaquin as my treatment. ive been on it for about a month now. anybody have any ideas because im exhausted and frustrated.

You have no significant symptoms to suggest Herpes regardless of what you have been reading on the Internet, Herpes symptoms would not show up the day after, aside from that your sexual encounter was protected.
Yes Epidididmitis can cause swelling and tenderness around the whole area.
Please listen to your doctor and don't look at stuff on the Internet this will only add to your already unwarranted anxiety over Herpes.

but it seems like too much of a coincidence because i have had the same partner for 2 years up until recently. the day after it happened this showed up. i have researched the issue to death and it always leaves herpes as an option. can epedidymytis cause rectal swelling because  i didnt see that anywhere. plus i did a blood test for herpes which i was told could take up to three months to show up. i have no lesions or bubnbles or pimples of any kind just swelling and redness. i also have no pain except for just above the left testicle. everywhere i look points me to std's and the only one that takes time to show up is herpes. are my fears warrented?

I would agree with your doctor that it is most likley a bacterial infection such as Epididymitis however if this is has not resolved with the course of medication I would urge you to go back to your Doctor.
Whaever is going on it's not from this sexual episode it was protected and you have tested negative for Herpes.

Have you had any unprotected sex recently ? were you tested for any other STD's ?
