how long is herpes spreadable after recurrence

Once symptoms go away is herpes no longer contagious?  May have had a lesion fri, unsure?  Pain when urinating gone now and have been on 500 mg valtrexm

All the discussion in your other threads, and yet you never confirmed whether you in fact had herpes documented 7 years ago? Symptoms alone are never sufficient to be confident of a herpes diagnosis. You should contact that doctor's office and learn the test result, or ask your obstetrician to do it.

Don't get your hopes up for a definite diagnosis based on your current symptoms and possible outbreak. It's hard enough to accurately diagnose herpes when lesions are new, and very difficutl and often impossible once healing begins. So it's all that more important to check on your test result 7 years ago. (But see what your doctor says and let us know.)

Hi n thanks!  7 yrs ago I went to er with soo much pain. Dr said it looked like herpes.  They did a culture but I never did hear results at that point I cared less with the pain I was in I figured it was true.  I have a dr. Appt today and praying its not an obreak!  Its been a long wknd

Hi and welcome. Once its healed, a few days after the scab falls off, its no longer contagious. How were you tested for hsv and is it 1 or 2?
