incubation period

I recently met a women who i have been dating a little over a week; we have only engaged in kissing as of yet which began the nite i met her. Our kissing is intense and i recieved a small bite on my lip on the 7th day i knew her, the next day it seemed like a small sore. She informed me that she is HSV-1 positive but believes it is Herpatic Whitlow and she has never had any "cold sores". I was wondering what is the incubation period of the virus, could have i contracted it from her orally the night i meet her and develope a cold sore in 1 week? Also, i was sucking on her fingers about 2.5 days prior to this cut/sore showed up, but she had no "pimples/bumps" present on her fingers when i did so? Is that to short of a time frame for the virus to develop physical symptoms from transmission from her finger?

I meant when lesions on the finger are present. I obviously need a nap ;)

Herpes whitlow is only contagious when obvious lesions on the finger are contagious.  Odds are good that she has hsv1 orally and on her finger if she's been properly diagnosed as having whitlow.

Yes you could've contracted hsv1 orally and had symptoms within a week of doing so. You also could've had hsv1 orally yourself prior to this and the trauma to the lip triggered a recurrence for you.  Unless you had testing done at the time of the appearance of symptoms, you might never figure it all out.
