Confused about Dr's "visual diagnosis"

I was tested last fall for everything and was clear. I've been with the same guy for a year and about 10 days ago, I woke up feeling very tired and a little queazy. Later that day, I had just a pinch of pain when wiping; this felt like a small tear from sex. Over the next 7 days, the "tear" continued to be painful, and didn't seem to be healing. I tried peroxide, a vinegar rinse, and even baking soda, but all that developed was Yeast.  I went to a clinic yesterday, and the Dr. said that the "tear" looked to be an initial outbreak, but she wasn't 100% sure. She said she would do a culture and I would have the results in a week but that I was already 10 days in, so the culture may be inconclusive.

I obviously would prefer this to not be Herpes, and I don't like the idea of more waiting.  Here's my question: If I've been with the same man for over a year, why would I only just now have an outbreak? Could this be something else? Today is day 11 since I noticed the "tear" and things are looking much better although there is still a pinch of pain at the same site.

YOUR blood will not show herpes antibodies at this stage -- but your partner's will. If you need answers sooner rather than later, getting him tested should be pretty conclusive, assuming he's had no new partners in the last three months.

3 months would be conclusive but elevated antibodies could show at 2 but then they might fall into the low positive and require a second test at 3 months. just wait the 3 and get it over with.

The doctor said I should wait to have another blood test done for antibodies to build up. How long should I wait?

Yeah, there was no blister or clear liquid. From what I've been reading, I should be in a lot of pain, but I'd call this mild. I just have no idea what else this could be, and the doctor was really cold about it. "Here's your prescription, take one of these every day for the rest of your life."

Hi, sounds more like what you think, its a tear from sex. Usually with a herpes lesion it starts off as a blister type sore with clear liquid and then pops and a cluster will appear and on the vaginal area could be quite painful. You also should have had a blood test. From what you describe doesnot appear herpes connected.
