Glad your second outbreak was no where near as bad as the first. Thank you for checking in and we are always here.
Igg is pretty accurate for hsv2. As long as the value is over three. Hsv1 the igg test can miss as many as one out of four. Thats according to Terri Warren. One of the premier hsv experts in the country.
I am sure she taking it hard. You seem to have a logical grasp on things. I hope all goes well for the both of you.
Seems she is one of those carriers that has basically an asymptomatic infection. Her initial outbreak may have been so minor she really didn't notice. Either way it really sounds as she had no idea. Let me know how her tests come out and if she needs any info or questions answered steer her to the forum. Lots of knowledge here. Fleetwood and life know there stuff. I learned alot from them as well.
Yes that does indeed sum up your situation. The igg blood test did not pick it up because your body did not produce the antibodies yet. The very painful outbreak you had is text book initial outbreak symptoms.
So she would indeed be the source of your recent infection with hsv.
Was your partner aware she had hsv2? Has she been tested after your outbreak started?
I am sorry this has happened to you but the outbreaks get much better and shorter.
Hello, I just received my test results and I'm surprised with what came back. IGG HSV 1 Type specific <0.91 IGG HSV 2 type specific <0.91. HSV culture/ type positive for herpes simplex virus type-2. So my take away here is that this is a new infection, I did not have herpes before the last sexual contact and I have been with only one partner for the last 7 months. So by the tests my partner would be the source of my infection. I need some help here does that sum up the situation?
Hello, I'm back I still haven't received my test results from the original out break. Everything was slowly getting back to normal the pain was easing off however even with out sores or scabs in the front everything is still very "tender" it appeared that the antibiotics had a more profound effect than the antivirals..
I write back because the area that I had on my buttocks was scabbed over until two days ago, the scab started out the size of a quarter and kept getting smaller until it finally fell off. The skin in that area looks like there will be quite a scar but no problem with that. My problem is that I have been experiencing what I would consider nerve pain running down my thigh since the lesions started healing. Also nothing I cant live with, however now there is a new lesion forming about a half an inch away from the first one. At this point I figured that this would be too soon for a recurrence, so I am very confused. Would this be considered a recurrence or a continuation? As always any insight at all would be appreciated.
Sorry to hear that. Please keep us updated on your tests and how you are doing.
Update on my situation, my out break is severe to say the least the herpes lesions led to a bacterial infection of the skin so the pain is intense. The reason I share this is because when the outbreak first occurred I didn't know what it was and when I had a feeling it was herpes had no access to medical help (anti viral therapy) for about three days, in that three days things went down hill fast. So to anyone that may be reading this if you have odd things happening on your junk and you have any thought that it may be herpes do your self a huge favor and get to the doctor as soon as possible.
My tests have not come back yet but there is no doubt in my mind that it is herpes. I believe it is an old infection that I was unaware of and the outbreak was triggered by a bad sunburn. I never had symptoms that I am aware of I'm sure there was something but i missed it or misinterpreted it.
I would like to thank the people that gave advice to me on this forum and hope that someone may read this thread and get some help.
Yes went to doctor today, doctor confirmed herpes sent me for swab and Igg prescribed Acyclovir 400mgx3x10. When I mention groin I mean the now on the scrotum. The doctor was freaking out when I pulled down my shorts of course she is not an STD specialist, and I had to swab myself at the lab I hope I did it right.
It appears with this episode none of the general rules apply, I have lymph node involvement my left leg is killing me. I have done a lot of research and nothing fits. The thing on my back side has classic HSV appearance but the stuff in the front is different. I'm confused I suppose the test results will clear the picture.somewhat. Oh and it hurts like hell I didn't mention that. Thanks all for the support!
Sorry to say man but it sound like a bad case of h
Hi also,
as a rule, primary outbreaks can occur on both sides but not recurrent so you can pretty much rule out a past infection on your penis. And you are correct about the primary on your butt and groin area as would be more consistant with recurrent but the groin is not a common area for any outbreaks as the skin it too thick.
I agree with Fleetwood that this does not suggest herpes and since it all started at the same time and indicate both recurrent and primary and since you shave it would appear its all connect to some kind of fungal infection or bacteria as seems to be spreading, not appearing. Also with herpes, sores and lesions would be painful.
I came across one of Dr. Handsfield's old posts and I guess I answered my own question. Since I have lesions on my backside it cannot be a primary outbreak. The outbreak that I am having is severe and I have never had symptoms before, Almost everyday new areas in my groin are developing lesions it is quite a mess, Question this time is, have you ever heard of such a situation? I'm going on 8 days from the first indications and still developing new lesions. I will be going to the doctor here shortly, thank you for your help.
Yes you can get the swab and baseline IGG test.
Herpes does not cause a smell, no.
Thank you for your answer, I hope you are correct I would rather it be something other than HSV. I may not have described the situation very well. When i get a doctors opinion I will post the results,
If I understand the best course would be to get the swab and insist on the IGG test to see if I currently have antibodies and which type anitibodies they are for. This would help determine existing or new infection?
I noticed a "bad" smell in the crotch area is that normal during an outbreak?
Not sure about a primary infection. Doesn't even really sound like a recurrent outbreak either.
I think it is best to seek medical advice including a swab of the lesions and take it from there.
