not that im complaining

I was diagnosed with genetal herpes when I was pregnant....the doctor was not informative at all, and unfortunately I didnt know what questions to ask. That said, I know its an std, but if you share a bar of soap with an infected person, can it be spread? I have been with the same person for about 10years, he shows no signs, and I've only had 2 outbreaks, both just a single sore, both only when I was pregnant.....in 2003 and again in 2008, how is that possibe? Could I have been misdiagnosed?

Your husband needs to get himself a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what his status is.

when you were diagnosed - did they say if it was just + for herpes from the swab or specifically + for hsv1 or hsv2?  If you aren't sure, you too will need a type specific herpes igg blood test to know what your own status is too.

I encourage you to read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com to learn more about herpes and treatments.  Your hubby should read it too.

my husband and I have been married since jan of 2001, he swears he has not gone outside the marriage, I have not gone outside the marriage. Can you really have it for 10yrs and not know? And if so, not have a single outbreak until pregnancy? I know they are mostly stress induced, but like I said i've only had 2 sores, both while pregnant, believe me I've been stressed while not pregnant......so do i have a very mild case?????

Nope - cant be spread on soap.
It is possible for him (and you) to not have signs or symptoms, was he not tested after he found out you were +?
If you are unsure of your status it wouldnt hurt to get re-tested. Usually tests are correct, but you never know.
Good Luck
